Ashley Collins

Breathtaking is too weak an adjective to describe the feeling one gets when viewing Ashley Collins' work. From the collector of Renaissance masterpieces to the wood turner to the art novice, all appreciate the exquisite combination of strength and delicacy that defines Collins' work. Massive collages of old paper and manuscripts mix with paint and photographs to produce an incredible depth of subject matter. Her work often is in the range of 5'x7' up to 12' x 18', with all being powerful images. However, that subject matter is equalled in technique by the thirty layers of resin that Collins' builds up over each piece to give it such incredible depth of light and movement. She has produced many themes throughout her career, but I am most smitten with her horses and her black labs. Her pieces hang in such esteemed collections of Kate Capshaw, Creative Artists Agency, and Fox Networks, as well as many other private and corporate collections. She is based in Southern California and continues to produce new works each year which are exhibited nationally. Though all cannot afford Collins' work, all can appreciate her incredible talent. Ashley Collins is represented by Diehl Gallery in Jackson, Wyoming at 155 West Broadway, 307-733-0905, www.diehlgallery.com
