Technology Tuesday: I've Flipped For It!

For the segment of the population that wants ease with not too many options, today's technology world can be daunting. In an era of more and more and more options, there is a generation of people who just want ease. While I have very sophisticated hi-def video cameras, I have a favorite new gadget: The Flip Video.

With the touch of one red button, you can create a 60 minute DVD. I promise you: this is Idiot-Proof. It runs on batteries, and it is the size of an iphone. You just slip the button to the "on" position and start recording. It has instant playback and delete choices, along with a 2x zoom lens. You can make custom movies, or create still photos. You can insert the attached USB into your television or computer to watch, or create a disc if you have the appropriate softwear. If you don't, that's not a problem: take it to your local (and convenient) photo shop or pharmacy, and a disc can be created instantly in one of their digital photo machines. You can even upload to MySpace, Facebook, or AOL.

I love the product, and the packaging and instructions are equally simple and attractive. The instructions are literally a fold-over of visual and written brief instructions. The packaging is very sophisticated in it's simplicity. Even the batteries are included to make this as accessible as possible.

It comes in colors ranging from serious black to outrageous pink or orange. For those of us who want a quick recording with not a lot of options or paraphenalia dragging out of a heavy video bag, this little trinket is for you. With a price tag of about $130. retail, it's the perfect holiday gift. Go Flip this Holiday Season for the easiest new video gadget!
